Privacy Policy

Alpha Atlanta Community Development Corporation, Inc.

Effective date: June 9, 2026  |  Last reviewed: June 9, 2026

Alpha Atlanta Community Development Corporation, Inc. (“Alpha Atlanta CDC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Georgia nonprofit corporation. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our donation and program-registration processes, our text messaging programs, and the software systems we use to operate the organization.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us:

  • Donors: name, mailing address, email address, phone number, donation amount and history, and payment information (processed by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers).

  • Program participants and families: name, contact information, school or program-relevant details, and, for scholarship applicants, application materials.

  • Volunteers: name, contact information, availability, and any screening information required for working with youth.

  • Website visitors: standard server logs and any information you submit through contact forms.

2. How We Use Information

  • To operate our charitable programs, including scholarships, youth mentoring, and community development initiatives.

  • To process donations, issue receipts and acknowledgment letters, and meet tax and regulatory requirements.

  • To communicate with donors, participants, families, and volunteers by mail, email, phone, and (with your consent) text message.

  • To maintain our financial records and fulfill our legal and audit obligations as a tax-exempt organization.

3. Text Messaging (SMS) Program

With your express consent, we send text messages for: program notifications and reminders for participants and their families; donor communications such as donation receipts, campaign updates, and event invitations; volunteer scheduling and event-day coordination; and one-time verification codes when you sign in to portals or applications we operate.

  • Consent: You opt in by providing your mobile number and agreeing to receive texts through our forms, in writing, or by texting a designated keyword (AACDC06). Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving services or making a donation.

  • Frequency: Message frequency varies by program. Message and data rates may apply.

  • Opt out: Reply STOP to cancel at any time. Reply HELP for help, or contact us using the information at the end of this policy.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes at any time. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with, or sold to, any third parties or lead generators. Sharing with subcontractors that help us deliver the services you requested — such as our text-messaging platform provider — is permitted solely to provide those services on our behalf.

4. When We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers who process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards — for example, payment processors, our accounting platform (QuickBooks Online by Intuit), email and text-messaging delivery providers (such as Twilio), and cloud hosting providers. These providers may use your information only to perform services for us.

  • For legal reasons, when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of our participants, staff, or others. Donor information appears in regulatory filings only where the IRS requires it, and public copies of our annual returns exclude contributor names and addresses to the extent permitted by law.

  • With your direction or consent, such as donor recognition, you have approved.

5. Financial Data and Connected Software

We maintain our books in QuickBooks Online and may connect software tools to our own QuickBooks company file through Intuit’s authorized developer platform. Those connections are authorized through Intuit’s OAuth security system (we never share our QuickBooks password with any tool); access accounting data only, on a read-only basis wherever possible; and are used solely for our internal bookkeeping, reporting, and tax preparation. Donor and transaction details stored in our accounting system are protected under this policy and Intuit’s own security controls. We review connected applications periodically and revoke access that is no longer needed.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our youth programs serve minors, and we collect information about minor participants only from, or with the verifiable consent of, a parent or legal guardian. We collect the minimum information needed to run the program safely. Our website and text-messaging programs are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 online. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us, and we will delete it.

7. Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including access controls on our systems, encrypted connections for data in transit, and reputable third-party platforms for payments, accounting, and messaging. We retain records for as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by tax, audit, and nonprofit governance rules, and then dispose of them securely. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Your Choices

  • Opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.

  • Unsubscribe from email using the link in any message or by contacting us.

  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us below. We will honor requests except where retention is required by law (for example, donation records needed for tax compliance).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be posted on this page.
